European Framework of Reference for Languages
The European Council has classified different levels of language skills in the so-called “European Framework of Reference for Languages”. Many language teachers refer to these levels today. They are as follows:
A1 - Can exchange simple information.
A2 - Can express herself or himself in a known environment.
B1 - Can express herself or himself in simple unknown situations.
B2 - Can deal with most subjects.
C1 - Can express herself or himself in a sophisticated manner and appropriately in any given situation.
C2 - Can express herself or himself in specialised subjects – partly better than native speakers.
